Cory Schneider is expected to start for the Devils on Monday against the Detroit Red Wings at the Prudential Center in Newark after missing two out of the past three games due to illness. Schneider backed up in the one game where he did dress, so he will be looking at his first game action since Jan. 13. While Schneider is feeling much better after two hard days of skating on Saturday and Sunday, he will also look to step in after Keith Kinkaid was placed on injured reserve following Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Flyers. Schneider is looking beyond just Monday for how much action he could see this week. "It's obviously up to the coaches, but I'm preparing myself to play all three games this week if everything goes well," Schneider said. "Again, that's up to them, I'm not going to make the decision for them, but if I'm healthy and I'm playing well enough, I'm expecting for them to come back to me as much as they can."
Does approach change for Devils' Cory Schneider after Keith Kinkaid's injury?
