Perhaps Peyton Manning is prescient. After two weekends spent listening to him shout “Omaha! Omaha!” over and over, we’ve finally figured out why he kept shouting the name of Nebraska’s biggest city: College basketball. (Well, maybe.) Two nearby teams — Creighton and Nebraska — pulled off big upsets Monday night, a day after Manning’s Broncos punched their ticket to the Super Bowl. In their first Big East season, the 24th-ranked Bluejays thrashed No. 5 Villanova in Philly, hitting 21 threes in a 28-point blowout win that really wasn’t as close as the score indicates. Then, minutes later, the unranked Huskers defeated No. 15 Ohio State, 68-62, extending the Buckeyes’ losing streak to four games and giving second-year coach Tim Miles his first signature win.
Did Peyton Manning predict two college basketball upsets?
