The Devils released a statement today saying center Travis Zajac underwent surgery today to "repair his left Achilles tendon." The team said Zajac was injured Wednesday in his hometown of Winnipeg participating in what the team deemed "off-ice training." The Devils did not disclose the severity of the injury. After today's surgery in Winnipeg, the 26 year old will miss 8-10 weeks. Under that timetable, Zajac's recovery will prevent him from participating in the Devils' training camp, preseason games and the start of the regular season. The Devils open the preseason Sept. 21 against the Rangers and the regular season Oct. 8 at the Prudential Center against the Philadelphia Flyers.
