Devils left wing Miles Wood was suspended two games by the NHL Player Safety Department on Sunday and fined $9,946.24 for his boarding minor on the Lightning’s Vladislav Namestnikov at 4:54 of the second period in Saturday night’s 4-3 win at Tampa, Fla. Wood will be unavailable when the Devils face the Hurricanes today at PNC Arena in Raleigh, N.C. (Faceoff: 5 p.m.; Television: MSG Plus; Radio: WFAN-101.9FM/660AM) and the Blue Jackets on Prudential Center on Tuesday night. Wood also received a two-minute roughing penalty after Lightning defenseman Andre Sustr confronted him. Sustr’s face was bloodied when one of Wood’s blows broke his visor into his face. Namestnikov returned to the game in the third period and Sustr was also able to finish the game.
