Detroit Red Wings general manager Ken Holland had no updates on the injuries to goaltender Jimmy Howard and forward Mikael Samuelsson when reached by MLive.com this morning. Howard left Tuesday's 4-3 overtime loss in Nashville midway through the first period with an unspecified upper-body injury and did not return. Coach Mike Babcock said Howard was dinged up in practice and had trouble seeing the puck. Samuelsson, who had missed 12 games with a strained groin before returning Sunday in Minnesota, did not play against Nashville after being hit in the left hand by a shot from defenseman Ian White during the morning skate. His hand was swollen after the game. Holland said both Howard and Samuelsson have yet to be examined today. "I don't even know when they're going to see the doctor. Some point in time today," Holland said. "The way it usually happens is if there's anything significant that happens, they usually call me. If it's not significant, I usually hear tomorrow morning. "I don't know when I'm going to know." Holland said if he hasn't heard anything by this afternoon he'll reach out to trainer Piet Van Zant to get an update.
