Detroit Lions general manager Martin Mayhew didn’t like running back Joique Bell posting a photo on Instagram of his left knee in a wrap next to a pair of crutches last week, and he can’t like this, either. Lions cornerback Chris Houston seemingly posted a picture of himself wearing a hospital gown while in a hospital bed after surgery late Monday. The Instagram account showing the photo — @_champ23 — is private, but a picture of Houston, who wears No. 23, getting an injection in his toe showed up under the same user name last year, and Houston’s father, Larry, told the Free Press today that his son underwent toe surgery. “He’s doing great,” Larry Houston said. “His doctor said he’s fine, and everything went great. So just rehab (now).” Houston has been dealing with a toe injury since late last season, and both he and Mayhew said last week that surgery was still a possibility for the injury. “We’re just trying to decide what’s the best thing right now, and that’s it,” Chris Houston told the Free Press, adding that he didn’t know for sure whether he’d return by the start of the season. Houston did not return a text message seeking comment this morning, and his agent did not respond to a request for comment. The Lions declined to comment. Larry Houston said he does not know the timetable for recovery.
