For a guy who's played his way through countless nicks and bruises, Jason Maxiell probably didn't envision his vision preventing him from finishing his career in Detroit. But that's probably the case, as the forward will miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery to repair a detached retina, the team announced before Monday's game against the Toronto Raptors. After complaining of blurriness several days ago, he was initially given eye drops but on Saturday the pain returned and the team sent him to a specialist where the detached retina was discovered. Maxiell, 30, underwent surgery on Sunday and won't be able to resume basketball activities for two months, right around the time he enters restricted free agency.
