The Denver Broncos have selected former Iowa tight end Noah Fant with the 20th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
Fant (6-foot-4, 249 lbs) ran a 4.50-second 40-yard dash. The Hawkeyes lined him up in the slot as well in line. He is not a great blocker like teammate TJ Hockenson, who went No. 8 overall to the Detroit Lions, but he is probably a better pass catcher. He shows good, soft hands and the ability to create separation against his opponent. He is fast off the line and is capable of making contested and/or difficult catches.
Fant does not go down easily which should allow him to accumulate additional yardage in the NFL. He showed a lack of focus multiple times in a 2018 game against Penn State. The tight end had 39 receptions for 519 yards and seven touchdowns last season. In the previous two years, he registered a combined 39 receptions for 564 yards and 12 touchdowns.
