For New Jersey Devils coach Pete DeBoer and Kings center Mike Richards, the road to the Stanley Cup came through Kitchener. DeBoer coached Richards there for four seasons as head coach of the Ontario Hockey League's Rangers, including a Memorial Cup-winning season. He was also an assistant coach for Canada's gold medal world juniors team in 2005. Richards captained both Kitchener and Team Canada. When asked what he remembered most about Richards, DeBoer invoked shades of Charlie Sheen with a one-word response: "Winning."
