Luke Scott bashed a go-ahead, two-run homer and Tampa Bay's bullpen overcame an injury to starter Alex Cobb to post a 5-3 victory over Kansas City. After spotting the Royals an early 2-1 lead, the Rays came back in the third. Ben Zobrist notched a two-out single off Kansas City's Jeremy Guthrie and Scott followed by lining a 2-2 pitch over the fence in right-center field, putting Tampa Bay ahead to stay. The Rays later added to their lead on solo shots by Matt Joyce and Evan Longoria en route to their first win in three games against the Royals. Alex Torres (2-0), the first of four Rays relievers, notched the victory with 1 2/3 scoreless frames after starter Alex Cobb was hit in the head by a line drive of the bat of Eric Hosmer in the fifth inning.
