The Red Sox placed catcher David Ross on the seven-day concussion disabled list moments before Sunday's matchup with the Toronto Blue Jays. Catcher Ryan Lavarnway was recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket to take his place on the roster. Ross started Saturday in Boston's 3-2 loss to Toronto before being removed for a pinch hitter in the bottom of the ninth inning. The team announced that he sustained the injury during the game, but did not provide further details. Ross took several foul balls off the mask during Saturday's game and there were multiple conversations between him and home plate umpire Greg Gibson, who delayed the proceedings a few times to give Ross a break.
