De Gea’s current deal ends in 2019 and has the option of a one-year extension but talks over a new contract are said to have left him unhappy. According to Yahoo Sport, a source close to the 27-year-old goalkeeper said of United’s negotiations: “They are too slow. It’s always like this.” It is claimed De Gea’s representative have been “pushing” for a new deal but United are yet to make an offer. De Gea has established himself as the best goalkeeper in the Premier League and would expect to be valued at the same level as top earners Alexis Sanchez and Paul Pogba.
