Dani Alves had agreed to sign for Liverpool back in 2006 but for whatever reason the deal fell through. Alves, who went on to become one of the most decorated right-backs in the history of the game, was at La Liga club Sevilla at the time. Most of Europe's elite were showing interest in him, and a £9million transfer to Merseyside looked to be on the cards. But Liverpool apparently backed out of the deal, before spending money elsewhere on the likes of Alvaro Arbeloa.
