After the Dallas Stars had a busy first day of free agency -- including deals with the likes of defenseman Ryan Suter and goalie Braden Holtby -- business continued on Thursday.

Dallas added more depth to its blue line by signing defenseman Jani Hakanpaa to a three-year deal worth $1.5 million AAV, the team announced.

Hakanpaa, 29, made his NHL debut in the 2019-20 season appearing in five games with the Anaheim Ducks. He was traded in April this season to Carolina and appeared in 11 playoff games with the Hurricanes.
