Let's jump right into it this week, starting with Puerto Rican native shortstop Javier Baez, who was selected by the Chicago Cubs in first round (ninth overall) of the 2011 draft. Just 20 years old, Baez began the season at High-A Daytona, hitting with good power the first month going .265-5-15. He does need to work on his plate judgment as the four walks to 29 strikeouts (.299 OBP) indicates. With Starlin Castro ensconced at short, Baez's route to Wrigley might be at second, or in the outfield, but should he learn the zone and apply the power he has, we should be seeing him patrolling somewhere around the ivy by 2015.
Cubs may not have to wait long for Baez
