The Cubs declined to confirm multiples reports they've traded closer Carlos Marmol to the Los Angeles Angels for right-hander Dan Haren. Marmol reportedly told a Dominican reporter he had been dealt. Marmol is due $9.8 million in the last year of a three-year, $20 million deal while Haren had a $15.5 million option that was expected to be picked up. Cubs general manager Jed Hoyer was unavailable for comment. A Cubs spokesman said they had no news to confirm. Haren went 12-13 with a 4.33 earned-run average last year, battling back tightness, but is expected to be on-year rental whom they can flip for prospects at the trade deadline.
