The Chicago Cubs have placed closer Kyuji Fujikawa on the 15-day disabled list because of a right forearm sprain, according to ESPNChicago.com. Fujikawa, who signed two-year, $9.5 million contract after spending the previous six seasons in the Japan Central League, had just been named closer last weekend. He replaced the struggling Carlos Marmol. With Fujikawa sidelined, Marmol again could be in the mix for saves, though the Cubs might opt to use a closer-by-committee approach.
