Since the passing of Los Angeles Lakers owner Jerry Buss in February 2013, the team’s fortunes have taken a turn for the worse. Dwight Howard left for the Houston Rockets in free agency, and the Lakers were the first team officially eliminated from the playoffs this season (their first trip to the lottery since 2005). The team and their fans are hopeful that things will turn around after this draft, but Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban thinks they may not be so lucky. The Lakers are now being run by Dr. Buss’ son, Jim, and daughter, Jeanie.
