A few weeks and a couple of trades ago the Dallas Cowboys made the first move of their offseason by placing the franchise tag on running back Tony Pollard. It was always the move that made the most sense.

Pollard was taken in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Cowboys and while he was not used a ton during his first two seasons we have seen his role on the team grow more and more since 2021. Tony has had back-to-back seasons with over 1,000 yards from scrimmage and this past season topped 1,300.

The subject of running backs, more specifically the subject of paying them, is a bit of a controversial one in today’s NFL.
