Everyone and their relatives know that a trade involving Kristaps Porzingis is on the horizon this NBA offseason for the Dallas Mavericks.

Dallas was eliminated in the first year of the playoffs for the second straight year by the Los Angeles Clippers and Porzingis has failed to mesh well with superstar Luka Doncic.

With Doncic being the prized possession on the Mavericks, the front office needs to do whatever it takes to make sure that he’s in the best position to succeed.

There have been plenty of teams around the NBA mentioned in trade rumors as possible landing spots for Porzingis, including the New Orleans Pelicans.

While the Pelicans are a potential trade destination, the Mavericks likely wouldn’t be able to get any of the players they’d absolutely want from New Orleans, making a deal improbable.

That being said, let’s take a look at a hypothetical trade that sends Porzingis from the Mavericks to the Pelicans.

New York Pelicans Receive: C Kristaps Porzingis

Dallas Mavericks Receive: G Eric Bledsoe, C Steven Adams, 2022 first-round pick (via LAL)

Fans of the Mavericks would likely be disappointed in the return that Dallas would receive from New Orleans.

Yes, the Mavericks would want either Brandon Ingram or Lonzo Ball (in a sign-and-trade) for Porzingis, but Porzingis’ trade value isn’t exactly booming right now. Given that, Dallas would address two of their needs in a trade with New Orleans.

The Mavericks would get Eric Bledsoe, giving them an experienced point guard that can orchestrate the offense alongside Doncic.
