Under the tutelage of quarterback coach George Whitfield Jr., Pat White is looking to return to the NFL, and will work out for teams at West Virginia's pro day. It's unlikely any team will be willing to have him compete as a starter, making Carolina and White perfect bedfellows. The Carolina Panthers need another quarterback. With Derek Anderson almost assured to be leaving for Cleveland, it leaves the team in a lurch. Do they lean on a poor schematic match in Jimmy Clausen, or do they roll the dice on a late-round quarterback in the draft? The Panthers are doomed if Cam Newton goes down, make no mistake, but given the options they could do a lot worse that Pat White. Without the money to spend, or draft picks to spare -- a minimum contract could not only give the team a quarterback who fits their offensive sensibilities, but one who could add an interesting wrinkle to the offense.
