The 2021 NBA offseason began sooner than anyone would have liked it to and it has already been filled with plenty of action. This occurred when the Boston Celtics and Oklahoma City Thunder engaged in a trade that featured Kemba Walker and Al Horford.
They have a new head coach in Ime Udoka, who is replacing Brad Stevens. Stevens took a spot in the team’s front office and is taking over for Danny Ainge, who stepped down from his role.
Stevens will be tasked with upgrading a roster that fell woefully short of being an Eastern Conference contender as many predicted coming into the season. Ainge shouldered a lot of that blame for putting the roster together, but some of Stevens’ magic as head coach seemed to be wearing off.
Stevens already made one move, as he traded away starting point guard Kemba Walker to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Stevens will now have to fill that hole in the backcourt, as he acquired veteran big man and former Celtic, Al Horford, in the deal.
