Goalie Cory Schneider was recalled from his AHL conditioning assignment and joined the Devils on their road trip in Florida on Wednesday. Schneider is still on injured reserve, but joining the team opens the door for him to play on Thursday against the Panthers or on Friday against the Carolina Hurricanes, if the team feels he is ready. Coach John Hynes said if Schneider got through his rehab game and met the team on the trip, the Devils could use him as a backup or get him a start on Thursday or Friday if he felt physically ready. Schneider will participate in Thursday's morning skate, and a decision could come after that. The goalie stopped 19 of 20 shots in a 4-1 win with Binghamton in the AHL on Tuesday, where Schneider saw his first game action since suffering a groin injury on Jan. 23.
