The Indianapolis Colts have agreed in principle to terms with first-round draft pick Bjoern Werner. Financial terms were not immediately available but the linebacker out of Florida State is in line for a four-year contract worth approximately $7.9 million under the NFL’s rookie wage scale. Once Werner signs the contract he is allowed to participate in the Colts’ three-day rookie camp that opened today and report to Anderson University on Saturday for the start of training camp. The Colts expect Werner to contribute immediately and help compensate for the free-agent departure of career sack leader Dwight Freeney. During offseason workouts Werner was the backup to both “rush” linebacker Robert Mathis and strong-side linebacker Erik Walden.
