Ottawa Senators rookie centre Colin White suffered a broken left wrist in Monday’s 6-2 pre-season victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs and will be lost for six to eight weeks. It’s a crushing blow for White, who stood a decent chance of making the Senators opening day roster due as Derick Brassard recovers from shoulder surgery. White had surgery Tuesday morning. “He is devastated,” said Senators general manager Pierre Dorion. “He felt with some of our injuries up front that there was a spot there, or a few spots, and now obviously he won’t start the year with us.” Dorion says “he’s a high character kid” and expects White to recover as quickly as possible. Due to the fact it is a wrist injury, White will be allowed to skate during his recovery.
