The Clippers are optimistic guard Chris Paul and Chauncey Billups will play Friday against the Miami Heat. Paul has missed the past eight games with a knee bruise but has been increasing his work level and is moving around much better in recent days. Before Wednesday's game, the Clippers were 2-6 without Paul, and while the natural urge is to get him back as soon as possible, the Clippers are being understandably cautious with their MVP-candidate guard. In keeping the big picture in mind, they'd rather play shorthanded now with the hope Paul will be as healthy as possible by the playoffs. Incidentally, the Orlando Magic were without starters Arron Afflalo (UCLA) and J.J. Redick.
