A career evening by Bryn Forbes helped power Cleveland State to an 86-78 victory over the Detroit Titans Friday night in Calihan Hall. Forbes' 27 points tied his career high for the Vikings, and the sophomore guard connected on a 3-pointer (he was 4-of-6 behind the arc) for a school-record 24th consecutive game. The Vikings built a 59-43 lead midway through the second half, riding 61.8 percent shooting. "It was like we were trying to recover against them all night long,'' Detroit head coach Ray McCallum said. "they got pretty much everything they wanted." Detroit eventually sliced the deficit to 62-52 as the Vikings hit a 1-of-7 shooting slump. But CSU's Jon Harris scored in the lane then added a free throw. Following a Detroit miss, Forbes nailed a 3-pointer from the corner to rebuild the lead to 68-52. "That kid made a statement tonight, and that's coming off a 25-point game earlier this week,'' McCallum said. The margin was 74-64 with 2:25 to go, but Forbes' layup completed his scoring and CSU coasted to the end.
