The Cleveland Indians have made their first trade of the offseason.

On Wednesday afternoon, the Indians and Pirates agreed to a deal that sent infielder Erik Gonzalez and right-handed pitchers Tahnaj Thomas and Dante Mendoza to Pittsburgh in exchange for outfielder Jordan Luplow and infielder Max Moroff.

A third-round selection of the Pirates in the 2014 First-Year Player Draft, Luplow, 25, has 33 hits, including 14 for extra bases (four doubles, four triples, six home runs) in 170 at-bats over 64 games with Pittsburgh over the last two years.

Luplow drove in 18 runs and scored 22 in parts of two seasons at the Major League level. Additionally, in 10 more games in 2018 than in 2017, Luplow drew four more walks and struck out four less times (down from 22 to 18).
