The Indians, staring at a widening hole in their bullpen, have signed right-hander Dan Otero to a two-year deal with a club option for 2020. The Tribe has set-up men Bryan Shaw and Joe Smith on the free agent market. Andrew Miller and closer Cody Allen can be free agents after the 2018 season. So the Indians, who have had one of the top bullpens in the AL over the last several years, are going to need some help. On Friday the Indians and Otero avoided arbitration by signing a one-year deal worth $1.3 million. Here are the terms of the new deal: Otero will make $1.1 million in 2018, $1.3 million in 2019 with a 2020 option worth $1.5 million. The option includes a $100,000 buyout.
