For the purposes of storytelling, it would be convenient if there had been one magic moment when everything finally made sense again to Clay Buchholz. But life, to say nothing of pitching, isn't that simple. And so, Buchholz' epiphanies have gradually evolved. There was the hour-long bullpen session with pitching coach Bob McClure in Kansas City in early May. There was the recovery of his bat-slowing changeup, Buchholz' signature pitch which had strangely gone missing until a May 16 start against the Tampa Bay Rays.
