And no, it’s not because anything bad has happened. It’s just that Greene and the Reds are exercising patience before their firing up their first-round draft choice. After signing with the Reds July 7, the former California high school superstar pitcher and shortstop reported briefly to the Arizona League for work, and then on Saturday joined the Billings Mustangs of the Advanced Rookie Pioneer League. Greene was the No. 2 overall pick in last month’s MLB Draft. He’s not active there yet, though, and will apparently not pitch for at least another week or so, according to KHQ Q6, an NBC affiliate in Spokane, Wash., that serves Northern Idaho, which isn’t far from Billings, Montana. Greene said that he needs to get back into game shape.
