Chris Young felt the same tingles of excitement long-suffering Mets fans did and maybe even more while seeing Johan Santana throw the franchise's first no-hitter June 1. He and his wife, Liz, watching on television at her parents' home in northern Virginia while they waited for the birth of their third child, leaned to the edge of their seats, soaking in the night's energy and Santana's marvelous performance. But Young, if possible, had more intense emotions churning that night than anyone except perhaps Santana. The two pitchers had the same serious shoulder operation and Santana, who had the surgery eight months earlier, is a barometer of what twists Young's career path might take.
