Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell says that ace left-handed starting pitcher Chris Sale could pitch out of the bullpen in Game 3 of the American League Division Series against the Houston Astros on Sunday afternoon, according to Evan Drellich of NBCS Boston. The Red Sox have dropped the first two games of their series against the Astros, losing 8-2 both times. With Boston one loss away from elimination, Farrell is clearly adopting an all-hands-on-deck mentality. Sale pitched Game 1 of the series and was rocked for seven runs on nine hits in five innings of work. He gave up three home runs while registering six strikeouts in what was the first playoff outing of his eight-year major-league career. The 28-year-old was brilliant overall this season, going 17-8 with a 2.90 ERA over 32 starts. He allowed 165 hits while handing out 43 walks for a sparkling WHIP of 0.970 across 214.1 frames of action, striking out a major-league best 308 batters.
