The Chiefs made it official with Chris Ballard on Tuesday, announcing him as their new director of player personnel. “Chris is a tremendous talent evaluator and a great fit for our staff,” general manager John Dorsey said in a statement issued by the Chiefs. “He is well respected across the league, he is a remarkable person and we are pleased he decided to join us.” The Chiefs were light at the top of their scouting department. They lost their lead college scout, Phil Emery, last year when he became general manager of the Chicago Bears. Pro personnel director Ray Farmer recently left for a job with the Cleveland Browns. Ballard was with the Bears in a scouting capacity for the past 12 years. He was their director of pro scouting last year.
