Manchester City have confirmed that Sergio Aguero suffered a knee injury in the 5-0 victory over Burnley on Monday night.

Aguero will now travel to Barcelona to see Dr Ramon Cugat for further examination.

The Argentine landed in a heap after being fouled by Ben Mee inside the penalty area in the closing stages of the first-half at the Etihad.

Following a VAR review, City were awarded a penalty, which Riyad Mahrez' converted to make it 3-0, but the Argentine was immediately substituted following the tackle.

"Sergio Aguero suffered damage to his left knee in our recent 5-0 win over Burnley,” City said in a statement released earlier today.

"The striker will now travel to Barcelona to see Dr Ramon Cugat for further examination. Everyone at City wishes Sergio the best with his recovery."
