Chelsea are ready to splash £50million in the January transfer window on Marseille midfielder Giannelli Imbula and FC Porto defender Eliaquim Mangala. Blues boss Jose Mourinho is eager to strengthen his squad in the New Year and has identified the duo as two of his top targets. Centre back Mangala was on Manchester United’s radar during the summer but the move never materialised – with the Premier League champions unwilling to meet a reported buyout clause of around £37m. However Mourinho is a big fan of the France international and is refusing to be put off so easily. The self-proclaimed Special One knows Mangala won’t come cheap but believes he can use his contacts in Portugal to negotiate a deal for closer to £25m.
