Chelsea are ready to beat Liverpool in the race to sign Timo Werner.

Red Bull Leipzig forward Werner will be allowed to leave this summer as he has a £50m buy-out clause which expires later this month.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has cooled on his interest because of the price tag in the current financial climate.

But that is unlikely to stop Chelsea who will have money to spend this summer despite the coronaviruscrisis - and Werner is now in their sights.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is anxious to strengthen his forward line with both Pedro and Willian out of contract this summer.
