Chelsea director of football Marina Granovskaia has ‘entered official negotiations’ with Bayer Leverkusen over a transfer for Kai Havertz, according to reports.
The Blues have made the talented winger their priority focus since wrapping up deals for Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech.
And according to German publication Bild, Granovskaia is now in talks with Leverkusen chiefs Rudi Voller and Fernando Carro over a deal.
Havertz has made it clear to his club he wants to join Chelsea with personal terms already agreed.
It now remains for Granovskaia to agree a deal with the Bundesliga club with the two parties still a way apart in their valuations.
Havertz won’t come cheap with the report suggesting the total deal will cost €200m (£180m), with €100m (£90m) in wages and a €100m transfer fee.
