The Los Angeles Chargers have a serious situation on their hands with one of their best offensive players in running back Melvin Gordon.

The star back insists on getting paid what he’s worth and is willing to holdout until he gets what he wants. That contract holdout could last well into the upcoming NFL regular season, but the Chargers brass won’t talk about the situation with Gordon publicly, according to Pro Football Talk.

“We don’t publicly discuss contract negotiations,” a team spokesman told PFT via text message in response to the multiple on-the-record comment from Gordon’s representatives regarding his desire to get a new contract, the characterization of the offers that have been made by the Chargers, the threat to hold out of training camp (and possibly the season), and the potential demand for a trade.
