If Yankee fans think Joe Girardi’s tenure as manager should be coming to an end, it seems Aroldis Chapman might ‘like’ that idea. The Bombers closer liked a comment on his Instagram page early Saturday morning insinuating that Girardi shouldn’t return as skipper in 2018. “Let’s hope Joe’s contract is not renewed after the season,” the comment Chapman liked, written by user @millsjr33, reads. “He’s an imbecile.” The “imbecile” part most likely refers to Girardi’s decision to not challenge a call in the sixth inning. With two on and two outs, pinch-hitter Lonnie Chisenhall foul-tipped an 0-2 pitch from Chad Green off the knob of his bat into Gary Sanchez's glove for what should've been strike three and the end of the inning. Instead, it was ruled a hit-by-pitch, and after not challenging the call, Francisco Lindor cleared the bases with a game-changing grand slam to make it an 8-7 game. Seven innings later, the Yankees lost 9-8 on a walk-off RBI single and are now one loss away from their season ended.
