While Papa John’s CEO John Schnatter is blaming “poor leadership” at the NFL, vis a vis player protests during the national anthem, for a decline in the company’s pizza sales, CBS Corp. CEO Leslie Moonves insists there is no evidence of advertiser erosion during broadcasts of the league’s games. Moonves said on CBS’s quarterly earnings call Thursday that he does not know of a single sponsor that has pulled ads from NFL games because of the controversy. Viewership of NFL games through Week 7 is off 5 percent from last season, but Moonves stresses that pro football remains the most powerful programming on television.
