The Cleveland Cavaliers ended up receiving a massive haul from the Boston Celtics in exchange for disgruntled All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving. That haul includes fellow All-Star Isaiah Thomas and a highly sought-after first-round pick, originally from the Brooklyn Nets. But it now looks like the Cavaliers were attempting to make a trade with the defending champion Golden State Warriors, the team Cleveland has faced in the Finals the past three years. According to ESPN’s Marc Spears, new Cavs general manager Koby Altman called the Warriors up about swapping Irving for Klay Thompson. “He (Altman) did call the uninterested Warriors about Klay Thompson,” Spears reported. If the NBA offseason hasn’t been crazy enough, imagine if that actually happened. Stephen Curry and Kyrie Irving in the same backcourt.
