After an exam by team physicians Thursday revealed a strain where the Cardinals and rookie Matt Adams hoped there would only be irritation, the club elected to place Adams on the 15-day disabled list. Adams spot on the DL is backdated to Monday, when he first felt what was described as a tightness or soreness in his right oblique. Adams has been diagnosed with a slight tear in the oblique. During his time in Class AA Springfield, Adams had an oblique strain cause him to miss three weeks of the 2011 season. To take Adams place on the 25-man roster, the Cardinals are promoting utility infielder Jermaine Curtis. He will also be added to the 40-man roster today.
