The St. Louis Cardinals acquired first baseman Paul Goldschmidt from the Arizona Diamondbacks, the teams announced Wednesday.

Arizona receives pitcher Luke Weaver, catcher Carson Kelly, infielder Andy Young, and a 2019 competitive-balance draft pick in return for the six-time All-Star.

The 31-year-old Goldschmidt is eligible for free agency at the end of the 2019 season. He owns a career slash line of .297/.398/.532 and has finished in the top three of NL MVP voting three times.
