The Detroit Lions and Arizona Cardinals have requested permission to interview Vikings offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur for their vacant head-coaching positions, sources said Monday. The Lions’ job opened when they fired Jim Caldwell following a 9-7 season. The Cardinals’ position came open when Bruce Arians stepped down following an 8-8 season. Sources had told the Pioneer Press on Sunday night that teams expected to show interest in interviewing Shurmur were the Lions, Cardinals, Chicago and New York Giants.
