The Arizona Cardinals placed quarterback Carson Palmer on the injured reserve list with a broken arm on Thursday, confirming he will miss at least eight weeks. That would allow Palmer, if he’s recovered, to return for a Dec. 24 home game against the New York Giants and a Dec. 31 game at Seattle to close the year. On Tuesday, head coach Bruce Arians said he remained hopeful Palmer could return sooner than the initial diagnosis indicated. “It depends on what the surgeon says,” Arians said. “He is a fast healer. He’s had it broken before and basically said he was back in five.” Palmer underwent surgery on Wednesday.
