But on Friday night at Verizon Center, they found a way to win in regulation and put some distance between themselves and the New York Rangers. The Capitals managed to overcome coughing up a pair of one-goal leads and captured a 3-2 victory thanks to a game-winning goal by Eric Fehr with 14 minutes 51 seconds gone in the third period. The victory pushed the Capitals six points ahead of New York for second place in the division.
