Not even two months after his 19th birthday Tom Wilson made the jump from the Plymouth Whalers in the Ontario Hockey League playoffs to the Washington Capitals in the Stanley Cup playoffs. That was also less than a full year after the Capitals selected the gigantic right winger – he stands at 6’4″ and weighs 210 pounds – with the 16th overall pick in the 2012 NHL Draft. He’s still eligible to return to junior hockey where he would be the feature piece for the Whalers. However he’s looking to earn full-time employment in the NHL after getting a taste of what it’s like to play in the big leagues last spring.
