Capitals majority owner Ted Leonsis spoke to media on Friday morning and the first topic of interest was Alex Ovechkin’s new contract status. Ovechkin’s contract negotiations have been a hot topic all season, and while there has been no progress, it seems Ted Leonsis is not worried.

“I’m not concerned, He’s not concerned,” Leonsis told the media. “Our concern is the Boston Bruins.”

Alex Ovechkin’s 13-year, $124 million contract will end after this season, and while a new deal is a high priority, the two parties have consistently put off and delayed any decision-making during the past year.
