The Washington Capitals have signed winger Alex Chiasson to a $660,000, one-year contract. General manager Brian MacLellan announced the deal Wednesday, the day before the Capitals open the regular season in Ottawa. The 27-year-old Chiasson made the team on a training camp tryout after he was not rendered a contract offer by the Calgary Flames last season. He’s expected to start the season on the third line with Brett Connolly and Lars Eller.
